About the author
Amy Russell is an author about whom I’ve been able to turn up almost nothing. It might be, of course, that she wrote under other names. Under this one, she produced one horse book, an historical story with an unusual slant, in which a family go gold mining to help the Civil War effort.

Set in Idaho, this is the story of the Carver family and their daughter Laurel. The Carvers go to Idahoto mine gold for the Civil War effort back east, but they’re hampered by the fact the local Indians have their eye on Laurel’s Thoroughbred horse Princess. Laurel tries to befriend the Indians, as well as keep her horse.
