Horse Diaries is an American series published by Random House, aimed at readers aged 8–12. Some titles are available in the UK, and all appear to be out as ebooks. Thus far, there are ten books in the collection, all of which look at a different period of history through the eyes of a horse, with human support both male and female. Though many of the stories are American, the reader also gets to experience life in the rest of the world, including 10th century Iceland through the eyes of Icelandic horse Elska, 9th century Arabia through the mare Yatimah, and World War II through Lipizzaner Maestoso Petra. The American stories range from 18th century American Indians to 1950s Mustangs. Each book includes historical appendices.
