After a fire 13-year-old Jimmy finds himself without a family or a home. All he has is his big stallion colt, Big Red, and his shaggy puppy, Ketch. Kind-hearted Tom Scudder, of the Rafter S Ranch gives them a new home, and Jimmy a job. The three young Scudder children are impressed by Jimmy’s bronc riding talent. They plan a rodeo, and spend long hours practising for it.
