About the author
Thus far I have been able to find no biographical information on Emma Atkins Jacobs at all. She wrote several books for children, amongst which is this single horse book, in which a girl finds life once you’re grown up does not necessarily go as you think it ought.
Finding the book
Reasonably easy to find in its native America. The book was not published in the UK.

Gayle graduates from high school, and the last thing she expects now that she has is to have to act as her father’s chauffeur back in the Northwest. Much happens while she’s there: a rodeo horse is stolen, Gayle makes friends with unexpected people and learns a lot about herself.
