Lucy, at last, is going to get a pony of her own, which she will keep at Janey Squire’s riding school. After various awful adult shenanigans, Lucy buys Dance: an ex-steeplechaser, he is not exactly easy to control, and Lucy can’t. Janey Squire’s bitter rival is Angelica Kent of the Manor’s Hall Riding School, and everything Janey does is aimed at bringing Angelica down.
No one can help Lucy control Dance, and eventually she has to betray her loyalties to get the help she needs.
