Rosemary Bridges eventually manages to buy the mare she wants, Golden Charm. She carefully and painstakingly trains her, and her showing career goes well, until Rosemary and Charm have an accident with a car whose owner didn’t even bother to stop and try and sort out the carnage she had caused. At first, the full extent of Charm’s injuries aren’t clear, let alone Rosemary’s, but the road to recovery is a very long one for them both.
