About the author
Joan Sherman Weir (1928–2019) was a Canadian author. She was born in Calgary, and educated at the University of Manitoba. After graduating, she worked in advertising, and wrote for radio. She wrote several novels for adults, all of which were rejected. She realised her heart lay in writing for a younger age group, and wrote several successful novels for the 9–16 age group. As well as mystery stories, she’s written at least one horse story, Three Day Challenge (1976), later reprinted as Storm Rider.
