About the author
Jonreed Lauritzen (b.1902) was born in Utah, and educated at the University of California at Berkeley, UCLA and Columbia University. He worked with the US Department of the Interior on national parks and public lands. As a writer, he produced travel articles, and several children’s books. For The Legend of Billy Bluesage (1961), he won the Southern California Council on Children’s Literature award for the most notable children’s book published that year.
