About the author
Paul Laune (1899–1977) was born in Woodward, and educated at the University of Oklahoma. He worked as an illustrator and art critic in New York, and then moved to Arizona, where he started to paint and draw Quarter Horses. He illustrated many children’s books, including some of the Hardy Boys series. As far as I am aware, he wrote one children’s book himself, an easy reader called The Thirsty Pony (1940). His better known horse books are non fiction, and focus on the mustangs he knew well from his childhood, and on his favourite breed, the Quarter Horse.
Finding the books
Good copies vary in price, but are all reasonably easy to find.
