Virginia Weisel Johnson is alas an author about whom I’ve been able to find out very little. She has written on distance riding, as well as producing at least one horse book, The Cedars of Charlo.

Becky’s old friend Spike helps her to transform her first horse. When Becky first gets him, he’s a mangy Palomino, but with Spike’s help, the horse is transformed into Becky’s dream horse. Becky is fond of Spike, so tries to understand his anger towards the loggers working in the mountains near their homes.
