About the author
Jeanne Hovde wrote Bobcat, Danger in the Forest and Winter of the White Tail Buck, all of which I believe are Christian animal adventures for children. She wrote one horse book, which appears to have been published under two titles at the same time in its native USA: A Horse for Cassie and A Horse Named Cinnamon. The book was published in the UK by Christian publishers Pickering as A Horse Named Cinnamon.
Finding the book
Easier to find in the USA than the UK, but not expensive wherever you find it.

Cassie is desperate for a riding horse: her family have a mean Belgian working mare called Stampede, so Cassie has to make do with her, while she hopes her father will relent and buy her a horse, despite the fact it won’t earn its keep, or that she’ll win a horse.
