Dorsey, Angela

About the author

Angela Dorsey is a Canadian author, who now runs her own publishing company, Enchanted Pony Books. It publishes her own titles, now that her previous publisher, Stabenfeldt, has pulled out of the English language market.

Angeal Dorsey first rode when she was three, when she scrambled on board a horse who was lying down. Fortunately she survived the experience, and now has two horses she co-owns with her daughters. Her horses, and past horses she’s owned, appear in her books, but she herself is not Angelica, heroines of her lengthy Horse Angel series, although she has, she says, had a few Angelica moments when she’s known her horses needed her.

She has written four series: Freedom, the Horse Angel/Horse Guardian series, about a mysterious girl called Angelica who appears when girls and their horses are in seemingly hopeless situations, Whinnies on the Wind, and now Suncatcher. The books are exciting reads. Angela Dorsey writes a good adventure.

I have enjoyed all the Dorsey books I have read, but I can particularly recommend the Whinnies on the Wind series. Set in the far north of Canada, not only are these books gripping adventures, they are also a fascinating insight into a way of life governed by extreme weather. Featuring a heroine, Evy, who deserves to be amongst the front ranks of horse book heroines, and a believable dose of fantasy, these books are amongst Dorsey’s best.
