As A Horse Named Doodlebug
Scholastic Book Services, New York,1979
A young girl finds that the injured, disheveled pony she buys out of pity at an auction is really the black stallion of her dreams.
Irene Brady is an American author and illustrator, best known for her animal stories. She’s written on many different animals; her one horse story is Doodlebug, which changed title and front cover orientation when it appeared as a paperback. She also wrote America’s Horses and Ponies (1969) - non fiction, but it looks a lovely book.
