Dirk Gringhuis

Dirk Gringhuis (Richard H Gringhuis, 1918 - 1974) wrote and illustrated widely for children. As well as non-fiction historical titles, many set in Michigan, he wrote animal stories, including this one horse book, Saddle the Storm. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and educated at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. As well as setting many of his books in Michigan, he produced and hosted the television series Open Door to Michigan.

Finding the book: reasonably easy to find in the USA. It was not printed in the UK.
