Dirk Gringhuis

Dirk Gringhuis (Richard H Gringhuis, 1918-1974) wrote and illustrated widely for children.  As well as non-fiction historical titles, many set in Michigan, he wrote animal stories, including this one horse book, Saddle the Storm.  He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and educated at the American Academy of Art in Chicago.  As well as setting many of his books in Michigan, he produced and hosted the television series Open Door to Michigan.

Finding the book:  reasonably easy to find in the USA.  It was not printed in the UK.

Jamie is Irish, and so he is pleased when he finds out that an Irish hunter is coming to his remote
Michigan island, but when the horse Galway Storm turns up, he turns out to be a handful for his
young owner, Susan.
