Arnold Dobrin

Arnold Dobrin wrote and illustrated numerous children’s books, both fiction and non-fiction. He was a keen traveller, and this provided background for several of his books, including Irish, which allowed him to write about two passions: horses and Ireland.

Finding the book: reasonably easy to find in the USA. It was not published in the UK.

Eileen O’Connor, a young Irish girl, has finally earned enough
money to buy a horse. She tries a neighbour’s hunter, called Irish,
and has him on trial to see if she’s ready for a horse that’s a bit
more than she’s been used to.
